    Hi all,

Good friend of mine has recently purchased a standard L reg VR6 (2.9?) which has decent mileage (60k) but is in dire need of a full service. Not being as knowledgeable on the 6 cylinder flavour of VW's what do I need to know?

Oil - Guessing 10w40 synta silver? Filter - standard vw?
Air Filter - standard paper filter alright or other suggestions?
    Spark Plugs - Recommendations please
Brake Fluid - VW Dot 4?
    Coolant - stock VW coolant?

Anything else I should be looking out for? Also, sunroof seal and the 2 rubber strips that run either side of the roof are totally shot, are they obsolete or do places like GPC stock them?

    Thanks in advance

If its standard then all above is ok. Needs nothing fancy. Not sure on the sunroof seal but the roof seals are not needed. I just cut mine off.

Can't claim to be a VR expert, but when best to do the timing chains on a low miler?

Surely cutting the roof seals off would just leave an ugly gutter underneath? Pics?
