Can a G3 wieghted shift rod be fitted to a G2 along with a short shift kit ?

I had a trimsport short sift kit on mine and fittted the weighted rod I had, couldn't get 3rd or 5th so I've taken the shift kit off for now
    ift kit
Can I fit the shift kit upwards instead or would that put too much an angle on the rod

    thanks in advance

yes it should work, but the rod might end up hitting the box so you may have to flip it over if that makes sence?

Couldn't combine the two on my 16v, as you say i can't get 3rd or 5th with them both on, but on my 8v gearbox they both fitted on no problem, very odd!

    yes 8v box

gotta say the throw now theres no short shift is huge, like I need to remove my console for more room - the throw may well outway the weighted rod

all depends on what combo of bits you're running, one way i fitted it resulted in the rod smakin the gearbox, I flipped it over and that sorted the problem

sorry meant mine an 8v box and didnt work, but it did for james? must be slight differences in gearbox casings? i prefer the shorter throw, so got rid of the weight. could always gring a bit off the weighted rod?

gearbox castings are all the same, its to do with which type of short shifter you go for plus how much it reduces the throw by

yeah that one seems to cause more problems, especially if you go for the one closest to the edge as it pushes the rod further forward than its supposed to be. Have you got it set so the offset bit is facing upwards (basically having the rod as high as possible)

no I had it set downwards, and tbh 5th was always a tad hard to get in, if I flip it then will it put the weithed rod at too higher an angle........I suppose theres only one way to find out

well it don't work if you flip the short shift kit and fit it pointing up, actually makes the throw even bigger   which makes sense [:o)] so its either weight rod or short shift ...............
