Golf MK3 2.0 16V gearbox question

    Hi,

    The gearbox in my 1994 L plate Golf 2.0 GTI 16v has gone! Proving difficult to locate a replacement...does anyone or has anyone fitted a replacement unit from another model... wondered if it would be easier to find?

    If so, any advice would be great!! Thanks
