Does anyone have any info, on which of the Mk3's had the "galvanised" bodies?
All i can find is "late cars" but to which years is this applicable?

Or is this by chassis number?

    Can anyone help?

According to peeps on here it's the later Mk3's that seem to rust more. You would have thought it would be the other way around!

    Mine's a 1997 and there is not a dot or rust anywhere...[:D]

(a passer by was so impressed with the shine of the body work she asked if I had recently had it resprayed "no", I replied, "that is genuine 11 year old paint work" - She gasped in amazement, and then went on to check her makeup in the reflection on the bonnet )

Mine is a late 96 on a P, no rust anywhere.
    Checked all over the body.

The car has been looked after, but not like an "enthusiast" (until i got my mits on it ;))

A friend's early VR6 has absolutely perfect bodywork, my 97 P reg could benefit from a new driver's wing, however :(

I bought a 16v on a p plate last year and it had rust all over the place just neglected stonechips that hadgone really crispy and 'proper' rotten. VW must have sourced the steel from the Italians or something.

There are a few body panels that were galvanised I'll see if I can dig up the info.

My old 94 16v had a huge paint chip on the bonnet, in the 3 year i had it on the road it never got any worse.

I got my brother a 96 diesel, not a spot of rust on it anywhere. The guy who was selling it for his mum was a car valeter, though...

    i love Italian monkey metal

the joys i used to have laughing at the sh*t quality of stuff they used to produce at work
and then explaining why stuff kept breaking.
