Hi everyone Looking to see if anyone may have any suggestions with this problem. I drive a Golf Mk4 1.8 GTI (T Reg) Whilst in traffic last week my car suddenly started shaking badly and acceleration became a problem, where pulling away was not smooth at all. Lifting the bonnet there was alot of movement, and I suspected a misfire. Today I have taken into a local garage who have had a look over. Where they also suspected the common issues of spark plugs or HT leads. The following Checks were done: Spark plugs, Coils, something else noted as Ext - I guess the electric conncector going to these leads, compressions checks were also done, and a problem with the maf has also been ruled out, as the problem only occurs during acceleration and not in general driving. As they were unable to identify the problem they did not charge me which was nice of them, and they informed me of a few things that it could be, I'm struggling to read this guys writing so may mispell things so apologise for that - Tric box (module) ECU Wiring Injector They told me that it was cyclinder 3 that was misfiring (2nd from right as you look at the cyclinders from the front of the car). I also believe a test to get error codes was done, but no error came back (I'm pretty sure thats what he told me) Has anyone else had a similar problem with these? Does anyone know of other possible issues that could be causing this? Any other thought suggestions? Hope someone can help.
