I have a Golf mk5 2008 1.6FSI Match engine code BLF with a JHY gearbox and while driving the crownwheel and pinion had gone with only 30,000miles. After a quick research I realized that it's a common problem, and even if I buy new parts(O2T crownwheel and pinion alone cost approx 700 euros) and replace them, it may fail again. I was thinking of changing the gearbox even if it's 5-speed, maybe I solve the problem but am not sure what gearboxes fit or if the problem is solved. What do you think?
