guys my cars has suddenly become completely guttless i have no power and it sounds like a fire engine ive tried a few things the vanes were stuck so sorted that i have had the boost pipes of no turbo damage or play ive changed the boost valve to still the same

so this morning i unplugged the maf while it was running and it made no difference at all idles the same drives the same (guttless) so in my eyes its all pointing to the maf?

    can anyone confirm this

If you have vag-com take a log of mesauring block 8. See whether the smoke limiter is less than the rest...

I would pull the cam cover and check the condition of the cam lobes and hydraulic lifters.

tried a few things tonight disconnected the vac line to the turbo and the fire engine sound is all but gone but still no boost or turbo spooling so thinking its the actuator

With No vacuum a VNT turbo'd car makes no boost so will be gutless.

You "sounds like a fire engine" now makes sense to me. Sounds like your car is overboosting then underboosting.

Sounds like your vanes are sticking. Try cleaning them with oven cleaner.

If it's the vanes in the turbo it will boost to start with then go into limp mode
    And will clear if restarted

If it don't do the above it's not the vanes

As ian said above the MAF would be my thinking as mine did the same
You can check the measuring block for it in vag-com to see if it's duff

pretty sure the oil feed is ok as it covered me in oil when i took it out i think i may have bent the shaft slightly whjen i changed the oil seal a few months back as when i fitted the turbo to the hot side i didnt locate it on the vanes pin by which time id wound it up ben tight before i noticed
