Just noticed the front coil spring on my dads 06 Golf Plus Tdi has broken. Whats the procedure for removing & replacing please, as Im used to working on older Mk2 & Mk3's Thanks
Also, don't bother trying to get the shock out of the hub carrier (it doesn't come out very easily at all), take off the brake caliper complete, remove the anti-roll bar link, track rod end, drive shaft and ball joint and take the shock off complete with the hub. Lad at work today has been lowering his mk5 Golf and that's how he's done his.
Cheers GVK I was going to ask about the spreader tool for the hub carrier. Was going to ask whether a chisel would do, but now your way may be the best
Also, to access the top mounts he just removed the rubber seal and lifted up the scuttle panel, didn't need to take off the panel all together.
