    Hi,

Was thinking about purchasing the GTi Edition 30. Howver, i have read reviews that the engine is "peaky" and the ride is harsh compared to the standard Gti. Any 30 drivers out there that could advise me?

    Thanks

afaik theres no ed30 owners on here, and only a few on ukmkivs

better idea is to get down the dealers and get a test drive

theres no beating first hand experience.

Unfortunately they're impossible to test drive as they they don;t have any ed30 to test. I think the only difference is the wheel size as they are bothe lowered 15mm

im afraid i cant accept you cant test drive a car you want to buy

try going in with you 25k in cash & telling him you also want another vw for your wife, and then watch how quick he borrows one from another dealer.

There is a good review in the new Volkswagen Driver magazine. The Ed30 will hold its value far longer than the regular gti. Also, the engine is the same as the new S3. It has a totally reworked engine and can be chipped to about 300bhp. If you can get an Ed30 over a normal gti then go for it.

They are bloomin' quick with DSG! Only had a bit of fun in one so could not comment long term but good fun and I found the ride and handling pretty good considering the power.

Good luck! You would be escorted to the door incase of money laundering. We have a demo ed30 at our place.

The engine has a smooth power band, although I should imagine with a re-map that could all change!
My Dads is running 19's and the ride is no harsher than his old Mk5 GTI DSG.
If you can order them still, I say do it!!

This is what it looked like on day one of ownership

Since then a few bits and bobs added including smoked plates, stubby aerial etc..
And the Lamborghini Gallardo reps (19's) have been added to, just needs to be slammed on coilovers now! not sure on the wheels yet, maybe another change is in hand..

My thought too. Difficult to see what's different styling wise, other than the wheels and badge at the back. I guess 'subtle' is the intention, leaves the modding market plenty of potential tho ;)

My ex-boss has just bought an Edition 30 from Rye Mill in Wycombe. He asked for absolutely everything and spec'd it out to the max. Apparentely it was the highest spec vehicle they have ever provided somebody from that garage...I have seen it and its sweet as a nut, but not been in it for a ride yet....Wonder if it would be a match for my mk2 20vt... ;)
