Hi Please can anyone tell me if a 1988 1600 turbo diesel gearbox will fit straight onto a 1992 GTI 8v engine, as I've just blown the original and just happen to have the diesel engine and gearbox sitting around! If it does fit are there any problems, e.g. speedo drive, gear ratios, etc. Thanks for your time rrichardhead
Think you'll find the input shaft size is different, but would *fit* if you used the clutch centre disc off the other engine whether the ratios are compatible, I don't know.
