I've tried doing a search for this but haven't come up trumps.

What are the differences between a GTi axle and Non GTi axle? i.e drums and discs? Could you use a drum axle and convert it to discs with the stub axles etc?

If anyone could shed some light that would be great.

if all you can get is a carby beam, bolt an aftermarket roll bar to it that'll negate the lack of std roll bar. obv should fit a matched front one though

Sorry to highjack the thread , but I need to replace my rear drums for discs soon.

If i bought a whole GTI beam, would the existing brake and handbrake cables fit?

yarp. might get away with bending the carby brake pipes till they're in the right spot to accept the caliper flexis, but ideally you want gti hard lines.
