Just received a PR from Halfords about a "Manic Monday" offer on December 8, including Halfords Advanced Pro 170-piece socket & rachet spanner set priced at 100 (normally 250, so save 150! )

Might be of interest to someone on here.. ;)

    Cheers Neil B

It's on 125 at the moment! The 200 piece is also on 150 knocked down from 300.

Did anything happen after the manufacturer of the Halfords tools went bust? What was the outcome of that?

I don't know if Halfords trade card knocks price down on promotion prices, I think when I got my 150pc set it was same price on trade (100 at the time), I think the trade discount is taken from the original full price. Luckily I worked there at the time so I had staff discount off got them cheaper still lol. This was 5 years ago though so things may have changed, worth asking what the trade price is if you have a card, can't harm, they're still really good at that price  Mine are still really good after 5 years and they've had a fair amount of use, I've not even been especially careful with mine either, I've used hammers on the spanners on tight/seized bolts and used the extensions as drifts on a few occasions lol nothing's broken/bent yet.

The only gripe I have with the 170pc and 200pc sets is that they only come with ratchet spanners in, which the ratchets fail occasionally and the ratchet/ring end is a bit big to get into confined spaces sometimes. The 150pc set is still fairly complete but comes with normal combination spanners which are hard as nails! They don't look to have an 11mm spanner in the sets these days (they used to, I've got an 11mm spanner in my old set) so you might need one of those.

The Halfords pro stuff all come with a lifetime warranty and I have heard great things about the service. Give them a call and see what they can do!

I think I'd go for the 200 piece as well if I was going to upgrade from my 150 set.
