I managed to get a broken Halfords allen key socket replaced on the weekend. I mentioned hearing about the tool supplier pulling out and the store manager just gave me a sheepish look. Got the impression that there are changes coming but for obvious reasons, couldn't say. Gurds
I'm aware of this and used it lightly, finishing off with a torque wrench. Thanks for the advice though.
I have to say I have started to get some Halford tools, for the money they are really all ok, bit of a shame really as I have just been buying them in one or two's when I am popping in for other bits. Would be a shame if they get a new supplier and the stuff is not to the same sort of spec / look. Fingers crossed. One thing I would question is how "in the loop" the local store managers are with this sort of stuff? I would guess as Halfords are a big company this would be a central issue and handled at a head office level????
Is it actually one supplier for all their tools? I'd be surprised if that was the case. I heard a rumour that their torque wrenches were made by Norbar, which supports this thinking as Norbar don't make much more than torque wrenches.
Halfords Pro stuff is made by the Danaher group http://www.danaher.com/ Makes me laugh when people say they're 'made by snap-on' as they clearly aren't although I prefer many Halfords Pro tools to Snap-On and the warranty is better too!
That will be made by Lea Way Hand Tool in Taiwan They make tools for half the tool brands in the world Sure they are part of the Danaher group They make tools for Crescent, GearWrench, SATA, Armstrong and Weller I Sure some SIGNET tool are made buy them as well If you look at the tools they all look the same So I would think your 100% right on what your saying So if halfords stop doing them you only need to look for any of the brands above on eBay or Amazon
