Has my Mk3 GTi 16v got an ABF 9a Engine?

    It's a 1996 model. How do I know if it has this engine, and what's so special
    about it?

    ABF tall block for a mk3 16v.
    Nothing really special, just a run of the mill 150bhp 16v abf engine.

    9a and abf are different engines

    found in 2l 16v passats and corrados - shorter block

    How come when I look for car parts online all I can ever find it parts for an
    ABA engine?? Is that the 2.0 8v?

    Yeah if i remember correctly the ABA is the American 2.0 8v crossflow engine, which appeared in the Mk4 Golf but under a different engine code.
