Head Gasket Thicknesses - no waffle or guesses please!

    Looking back in the thread you can strip layers out of the ABF gasket, simply drill the brass rivets out, remove a layer and re rivet back with std rivets. Use this set up on my race engine with 13.5:1 compression with no problem although I do use ARP head studs.

    What thickness was the part you removed?

    Measured an old ABF compressed gasket at the firing rings, 1.6+-0.1mm with digi verniers and 83.2mm bore. 3 layers middle 1.1mm. manufacturer BGAutamotive who state 1.7mm thickness and 83.5mm bore.

    Has anyone had any luck playing around with the gaskets?
    And seperating removing layers?
