Heated washer jets?

    At the risk of sounding really stupid, what are the power wires for that go to the washer jets? the pump is down by the bottle so it nothing to do with that.

    on the mk3 or the mk2??

    think only standard on the mk2 gti's...mine never seemed to do BUGGER all in the ice :(

    Make sure the elements are still connected to the jets.

    According to the bentley there not connected to the rear window demist circuit, there powered off terminal 15 in the fuse board which Im sure is ign live as on both my GTD and Jetta LX theye always been on whilst the ignition was on.

    oh right, always thought on uk ones it was the rear heated screen button....mad, well never cleared fag all ice away for me..

    anyone had any instance of them actually working ok??

    Mine were all gunked up and corroded, worked well once I took them apart and cleaned them up.

    I had them on a MK2 1.3 CL.

    THey are the same on the MK2, MK3 and Passat. I believe its only there to stop the jets themselve freezing up, I doubt they could ever heat the water enough to melt ice on your windscreen! :lol:

    My driver had them fitted as standard, I believe VW had a 'winter pack' you could add to the MK2, and most sensible British buyers ticked that box ;)

    what i meant was it never melted the washer jets so that when they iced up you could spray water on to your mud covered windscreen!

    I've never noticed mine working in the ice (I have to wait for the engine temp to go up a little before the jets will work). But then I never had my rear screen on either - so I'll give it a go!

    Mine work fine given 10 minutes to warn up. They come on with the ignition......

    My heated mirrors come on with the heated rear window........ They work well too [:D] [8D]

    yeah my heated mirrors worked fine with the rear heated windscreen!

    90 spec Drivers and GTDs got "Electrically heated twin jet windscreen washer nozzles":o as standard, I dunno about other models though.
