Heater blower only works on 3

Hi Guys

My Rallye has an issue with the heater blower, it only works on settings 3, i have had this issue on previous golfs but never bothered to sort it, however this car is a bit special to me and i better get it off the list of things to do. Does it need a new fan or controller?

it just needs a resistor pack on it,thats the bit that goes on them,usually caused by water/moisture rusting the spindle up and causing resistance on the fan's movement,fitting a new resister pack will sort it but if you dont free the fan up it will more than likely blow again

 

ok doesnt seem like to much work so i might just buy the whole heater motor and replace it.

 

what an occasional squeak, it happens mostly in 1 and 2, but i think when it happens on 3 it will be too high pitch for me to hear??
