i have just bought a 97 tdi vento, the car has only done 37000 but there is a lot of vibration coming from the engine resulting in cabin noise which is really making my ears hurt.
the vibration is worse at idle but there through all the gears,
i had it checked out at SMITH KNIGHT FAY and they said the timing and injection system was fine but they put it down to some pipes which they relocated but typically and after paying 100 this has not solved the problem.
the vibration seems to be more on the drivers side so i thought maybe an engine mount, can anybody help.

    Could be an engine mount...
have you tried rocking the engine by hand? Or even get a mate to stick it in first with the handbrake on and raise the clutch to the biting point to see how much the engine 'rocks'
