    Hi Folks

Im currently Slowly refurbing Geffory my 8V GTI project.

He is pretty rust free except for a few spots which i intent to sort. I intend on giving the car a full respray, and im trying to decide on what colour to go for. He is currently in Royal Blue i think and i like the colour but as he is getting sprayed by myself and my cousin we will be avoiding metallic colours. It wont be a show finish but we are confidant we can get it to a good finish, besides it will look a lot better than it does now.

Sorry for the ramble, any ideas are welcome and pictures would help if you have them.

    Cheers
    Folks:clap::clap:

ive always thought "bugatti blue" would look good on a mk2.

[:^(][:^(] Shame about losing the royal blue if i'm honest but then again, it'll make mine a little bit rarer ;)

Do you want to stick with an original colour?

Personally i wouldn't go for white simply because i think it looks better on early small bumper cars. On a big bumper, unless its super original (and very well presented) or done really well with nice wheels etc etc they can look a bit basic.

Is atlas grey a metallic? I have a feeling it might be but if its not then thats definately what i'd go for. Medium-dark greys look great on mk2's.

I've noticed a lot of shiny tornado reds recently and it does look fantastic when its all fresh with black trim. The only downside is it looks quite bland if the rest isn't up to scratch.

Black is a safe bet on a big bumper mk2. Can't really go wrong with it and it will keep a similar feel to the royal blue.

I do really like the colour but we are doing it ourselves and have never done a mettalic spray job before so we are not sure if we can get a good finsh in metalic.

I do like the sound of a dark grey though! Any more for any more!

If i were changing the colour completely on my Mk2, i'd go for Sratos Blue.

You dont see many in that colour.

Quick picture of my brothers previous MK2 -

I'd go for something very similar to the original or atlas grey

If you want a flat colour as opposed to metallic then how about nimbus grey? I've seen a couple of mk2's painted in it and there was one at inters this year, not to lairy but still a little different

Royal Blue, or at least swap some panels with people that need them in Royal Blue as you're painting it anyway :) (me! :p)

Exactly the suggestion I was going to make!

I saw a Mk2 at Elsecar this year that was Nimbus, but also with a bit of flake in it, to make it `Metallic Nimbus`. In the sun it `popped` like a grey really shouldn`t.
