scan the clocks for fault codes next (click top left button in vcds, then engine-01, then fault codes) see what it says in there about the immobiliser. But looking at your pic it seems to be saying the ecu isnt responding to comms, which would suggest a wiring fault on the WLine wire from the clocks to the ecu or the ecu itself has decided to pack in.

Have you done any modifications recently? on some modern vag fitting an aftermarket stereo messes up the kline, though this is on a seperate circuit to the wline direct comms between the clocks and ecu. would be worth disconnecting it mind just in case.

our ibiza had wiring problems to the cluster/stalks thanks I think to the tilt column, so thats worth a check as well

Seemed that the car was struggling to communicate between nearly all modules. disconnected the battery for 30 mins and now it starts!! strange

Aye had that before when changing clocks and getting locked out
You get to a point were nothing works
Then the old clocks not to being able to start the the car

Pull in the battery is the only way out

As you said the clock or ECU may have been affected be a drop in voltage
    And then immobilised it
