Help me pick a colour for the Mk1..!!!

Project Sleeper Mk1 is getting a new coat of paint hopefully before Christmas.... But I can't decide what colour! It's a 3 dr non-GTi , in black , it'll be rolling on 14 in Jetta Steels possibly widened , with a 40mm drop , small lights and bumpers . I'm gonna be taking out the glass , so I don't mind painting the interior... At the min I've all sorts of ideas like ;

A. Staying with black. Yawn...
B. New mazda 6 Blue
C. New FIaT Punto Blue

D.. Darkish Gunmetal Grey

or... controversially .......any of the above with either a silver or off-white roof , a la old Mini Cooper style.

Opinions , please!

 

I wouldn't go bright blue - too modern a colour for a mk1 - looks odd

I really like gun metal grey, or very dark green/red

 

i say you'd have to go for a nice classic colour for that sort of mk1.

two tone roofs on a mk1 don't really work due to the lines.

 

oak green, double the rareness

 

white with a hint of alpine white

 

is it a Mini, no. JUST GAY IMO. if you are gonna two tone the roof, do it black.

If you want stylist but standardish, then Helios Blue.

Honda Championship white with satin black trim could be a good track style OEM+ look.

or go crazy and paint it an old Hot-Rod Colour, like GanGreen, Sub-Lime, GoManGo or TopBanana. I would say Hemi Orange, but that's been done before.

Please don't take offence to this, it is only my oppinion (which was asked for, and you will see i want a hairdresser's car, so take no notice of me, i have **** taste. lol)

Edit: one idea is you could paint it the old Gulf racing colours

 

oak green is a sh*t colour specially on a mk1

 

The shade of Mazda blue I had in mind is a dark , metallic blue ....

 

has to be white. best color for an oem+ mk1. please dont go with a common color like red and metallic blue would just be yuck no matter how dark it is. as for the wheels go with 13" ats classics. only wheel for a mk1

13's won't fit over my brakes . Sadly... And I like dished steels tbh . White i hadn't considered at all , I feel that the older cars with the bigger panels gaps , and open arches , grilles etc all take from the clean ness of a nice white .

knew i'd saved this before.

if you search google with the colour names you will probably find one or two pics of old/new dodge's with these colours. i recommend you search for the new charger R/T daytona with GoMango, as it's totally different on the new car.

spray it the same white that ambulances are. its a really really bright white. looks really good on mk1's

Starte thinking about gun-metal greys today....

 

big fan of nimbus grey and atlas grey myself.

 

BMW have a moody grey on the Z4Mc....hmmm
