I cant seem to figure out which switch properly turns on high beams, rather than the flashers on the left lever. 1992 MK2 (has the daytime running lights, four headlights)

Unless the DRLs have been added the 92 would not have come with them.
The main beam (high beam) is activated with the light stalk, pull all the way back to switch on, pull all the way back again to switch off. Just pull halfway for a flash. There is no separate switch.

If your lhs stalk is faulty it may not Latch into high beam position.

I think that’s what it is, It won’t latch into the on position. Any point trying to fix or should I try and find a replacement

Buy a new one, very cheap and easy to fit.

if its a VW part I would try and fix rather than get a pattern one, or look for a good used

Agreed. The pattern ones tend to flex a little

I haven't replaced stalks before but tend to agree with the idea of fixing what you have or finding good genuine parts instead of buying new non-VW parts - the new stuff tends to be worse quality.

Would be interested to see photos of the insides / broken parts if you do decide to try and fix it!
