Relay sorted, high idle issue still a problem getting quite annoying now.next step is to clean out throttle body.

Been looking into high idle, removed aav placed in the freezer and it opens up to a small triangle
Poss 1/8 or 1/10 of area then heated it up from freezing Untill it was hot(hairdryer)held it up to
The light it had closed up almost complete but I can just see a chink of light(hot)is this the norm?
Also had throttle body off cleaned thorough, but noticed the screw was set that allows slight light(air) through
Should this be at full closed position?this was the w.o.t butterfly.

not sure on the AAV, with the throttle body do you mean the throttle stop? If you suspect its been messed with check the haynes for the reset procedure. I only have the mk2 haynes on my peecee which may not be the same procedure. I can have a look in my mk1 haynes later for you but its definitely worth getting yourself one, its the brown one you want

Hi,whatever ive done it's not idling high anymore, what I did was..
Removed throttle body and cleaned it,
Removed aav and adjusted the cold hole set size(slightly)
    New seal at throttle body.
New idle screw rubber(although tbh is wasn't that bad).
If anything my idle is too low now but it's easier to speed up.than find a racing
Problem so all is good for now,
But being 34yr car I'm sure to be posting my next issue soonlol
Big thanks rj and j,o and others without the info ive had of this forum I doubt it would be on the road yet:thumbup: image.jpg she,s about finished but are they ever really finished.
