    thanks mate.
    I have had it off and cleaned it. If I remember the plate was open 5-10mm is this normal or should it be completely closed. my mechanic said throttle body was his next port of call.
    when I put it all back in realigned it and it said all ok. Unless the cogs in side are worn and it’s not closing completely.

    So try another throttle body I guess. might just have to buy one new from the stealers.
    will have a look Monday night when I can gain access to the car.

    Right update.
    We have found the culprit. Or more where the issue lies. Was there today chatting to my mechanic about to rip the N249 and pcv apart. And we had a thought. Let’s See what happens if we unplug throttle pedal. Low and behold the idle drops down to normal.
    so I had another pedal in shed tried this and get nothing which leads me to think there is a wire shorting or I have two defected pedals.
    Can you still get the pedals from the dealers? If so any one know the cost.

    whats the part number on the other pedal? if its a diesel one it wont work

    vagcom should shed some light either way, look at fault codes and read the measuring blocks for the throttle and the pedal

    Thanks Jonny not sure on part number of the other pedal but I think it might be a wiring issue as the pedal on the car was making idle at 1600rpm.
    Had no codes come up before when it idled high. It’s at the garage still at the minute. Will find out part numbers later.

    Thanks Jonny.
    Just one thing. Is the wiring the same between the pedal and the blue clip on petrol and diesel?
    As I think I may have been using the small loom from the diesel pedal on the petrol pedal.
    if it’s different then I think this could be my issue.
    And a big sigh of relief.

    they're the same, but should be like this (blue plug -> pedal plug)
    1 -> 6
    2 -> 1
    3 -> 2
    4 -> 3
    5 -> 4
    6 -> 5
