Hi, I could do with a bit of help regarding a turbo choice for a VR6.

Some one has donated a new Holset HX35W turbo to me. It will physically fit, its massive, its free, i'm skint. Do i bolt it on ??

The car was running great but the old Garrett T3/T4 ball bearing turbo built by turbo dynamics was worn and the car was starting to smoke people out on boost. I had it mapped about 6 months ago and it was pushing out 350bhp ish and 400nm @ 12psi. The Garrett is currently in bits and waiting for spares from the States. I would want to achieve around this again or a touch more. Can the Holset do it??

    Any help would be awesome

    cheers

From what I found on Internet wastegate is a bit restrictive on these . External may be needed to have steady boost. I've seen a dyno graph of abf with hx35 (but non wastegated and 12cm hot side). It had 380 ps so I think it has sufficient flow for vr.

Cheers for the quick response, I've also heard I would need to run high boost(20psi) for it to be fully effective. does anyone know a good mapper in the southwest, Yeovil area??
