ive got a problem that could be categorized here,

the temperature guage shows fine, but the air coming out the
blowers isnt really that hot (i mean with full blower on, it's mildly
hot, and not warm enough to make my feet warm! ) the car is usually
really warm by this time too!

mk2 1989 driver 1.6 if there is anything i've forgotton to mention let
    me know lol.

oh yeah, and the temp setting is on max (hehe)

my 1.3 use to do this when there wasn't enough water in the expansion bottle.

Hiren - if you run the engine with the heater supply hose off, does it circulate water? sounds like the waters not flowwing through the matrix properly.

okay, so i just run the heater while the engine is off and look in the
expansion bottle to see if its moving?

no just check to see if there is enough water in the expansion bottle, i.e. inbetween min and max marks.

    then,

run the engine with the bypass pipe(small one between the two valves) blocked and return line open, see what the water presure is like coming out of the matrix, if it trickles out then your matrix is probably blocked, or the valves are nackered. you could try reverse flushing the heater matrix to get all the crap out of it?

    ok then you clever genius's's's

how do i fix my 1.3 with no bypass valve, ive been told to run the car with the header tank cap off whilst squeezing the big pipe on the radiator to remove air locks, i did get alot of air out doing this but the blowers are still cold!

    suggestions...

like bfp said, maybe your matrix is blocked, why dont you check it
for flow? and also check your heater control linkages (dunno how
you do it, but i guess its not too complicated)

if you take the centre console out there are a couple of cogs and stuff that the cables for the heater sliders connect to, check to see if they move when you move the sliders. if they dont then its probably the cables.

one of the cogs can be poped out, check to see if it hasn't come out, on my 1300 this happened when the heater was set on cold, hence when the slider was set to hot it didn't blow hot.

    hope this helps

unplug both the supply and return to the heater matrix. shuv a hosepipe in on of them, turn it on and check that the water comes out the otherside.
