I'm finally back in a VW again after 12 months of Range Rover and Land Rover ownership[:$] (for towing at work)
I've bought a P reg MK3 GTi 8v, completely standard, i'm 30, live in a low risk area, parked on driveway, have 9 yrs no claims, have an approved immobiliser, but can't find insurance for less than 550! I had a MK3 ABF last year and payed 325![:x]
I only payed 250 for the car!

Insurance prices have gone up dude recently so you probably wont get the same prices you did before.

Have you tried specialists like Brentacre and HIC?

I was told today that normal insurance has gone up by 37% but classic policies haven't been affected so if you can go for a classic policy then it'll be the best.

I got quoted 189 fully comp for my 1986 8v GTI

I dont think a mk3 golf will be eligible for classic policy (usually 1990 or earlier) and classic policys usually only allow for 3-5k miles max a year which would be no good if this car is the op's daily.

    Cheers

you could try performance direct, thats who i'm with.mines under 200 quid with mods and i had to start off with zero no claims(thanks to getting insurance through the wife and where she works)i had a 1991 pug 205gti with mods before my mk2 and was still cheap, then.but like cometbluecoupe says these are limited mileage cover.
