    I would like to find out vw golf mk3 vr6 belt tensioner can last for how long?How often need to replace?Thank You.

    which belt you mean? the aux drive belt?

    when it gets noisy or 80 - 100 K miles

    The supertine belt(alternator,power steering and air con compressor belt)tensioner!

    When it gets noisey. Don't think that there's a designated time. Mines done 110k and is just starting to get a bit squeeky. Heard that the serpentine belt needs changing at around 80k, but its not part of the service schedule or anything. Mines still the orignal i believe but could do with changing now.

    Have a look at the belt - they start to crack, and it's a good time to change it then. It's a dead easy job and the belts pretty cheap anyway, so no real excuse for running a duff one!

    As per Mr.Ben... look at it. If its started to crack... it needs replacing.
