Hi guys, i'm sure this is a fairly regular thing for the plonkers who don't label their HT leads in someway before changing the distributor cap etc... well i didn't!

And now it won't start so i was wondering if anyone had any pics of a mk2 driver (1.6) that they could show me so i can get them in the right order.

Then at least if they're right i can check my other possibilities out!?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

As far as I know, the easy way of doing the order is usually shortest lead goes to the coil, and the longest to the 1st spark plug/cylinder, just do the rest via the size.. so second longest to 2 and so on and so on...

That pic was exactly what i was after and they were wrong, but are no longer!

However, still not starting and the battery light is coming on but there is loadsa life in the battery and all other anciallary items work i.e lights, wipers etc.

    What should I check?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

pop off the dizzy cap and look at the notch on the dizzy, set sparky wire #1 to the terminal that matches :)

that is a PB engine :)
doesnt matter where the rotor arm is facing as long as it lines up with the notch on the dizzy housing. However if its waaay out the hall sender can fowl on the block, if that happend loosen the lower cambelt cover and jiggle the belt to move the intermediate shaft round a bit. The pulley for it is at the front of the block just below where the belt dissapears into the lower cover if you get me?

Set piston 1 to TDC, rotor should then be pointing at plug lead no1. Use 1-3-4-2 firing order to locate correct lead positions on the dizzy. C/w for 8v's, A/C for 16v. ;)
