no bike now, it's dead, 340 miles a week just to work and back, 23mpg 3.2.......do the math, nearly 70 a week just on fuel. It's not funny any more. And if i keep driving like i am doing, driving like a loon to amke the 1hour journey a 40 minute journey then it's only going to end in tears one day.

Considered LPG, but the insurance and tax is an issue also (680!).

Got a buyer lined up for the Golf Country so that will be going soon. Just stuck the mk4 up for sale tonight. This time it has to go. I've put it up for sale 3 times now, and each time changed my mind and decided to keep it.

So, here's the latest master plan. Buy a lupo TDI (or import a 3L) for a daily hack. It'll be the missus's car, but i'll use it for work and she can have it on a weekend.

Then, buy a T4 camper 2.5TDI Syncro. Great for shows, workhorse for carrying stuff about, and it'll tow the corrado too.

    Sorted. Just need 10K now!

Mate - stop c0cking about - keep the Country and stick a PD in it!!!

Then, get some standard MK2 suspension on it and you can say you've lowered it 400mm, think of the scene points and the 'respect' you get on Edition 38, lol!

why would i put a pd in the country when it's already got lpg?

it's too old. the old and sensible side of me has finally overpowered the vw enthusiast side.

i only changed my job so I'd have more money to put into the corrado and my bike!

once the mk4 has gone that's another distraction out of the way, not to mention the extra money from getting 70mpg instead of 23.........

I think the days of considering diesel cars as a concession are drawing to a close

After Claires R32 20ish mpg and the same and less from my mk2 VR I was pleasantly suprised by the 61mpg I got from a Fiesta TDCI I use to go to Daventry on a Ford course.

Still did it in an hour from Worcester too !

340 miles a week means a Diesel is a smart choice, and a LOT more spare money in the end.

Don't you have an R32 eninged Mk4 on a Cat C or something? Resale wont be great though no? (Or have I got confused with someone else)

if you’re only using 70 a week in fuel then you’re clearly not driving it hard enough, get a grip

61mpg is very good but what about the added expense of the dark glasses, hat and balaclava to make sure no one sees you driving it ????

CAT D. hopefully the 3.2 engine and high spec will offset any lost cost from the cat d. it's on ebay now. seen GTI's on the forums up for money money....

Lupo purchased, high miles, but bloody cheap!! will pick it up later in the week.
