My iE6 has been having a lot of errors lately, so it's a choice of upgrade to IE7 or try firefox.

What do people recommend and most imporantly WHY?

    Cheers

I thought everyone would have upgraded to IE7 by now.

In the process of upgrading to IE7 and have also downloaded Firefox.

    Will give both a go.

I remeber reading that with Firefox you need other applications added to it?? If so what ones are they and why??

Out of the box you don't need items added to Firefox. It can be handy to have an IE Tab added in for web pages that don't work under Firefox ... these are few though !

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

    Add NoScript for security

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

Only let the sites that you want to run Java scripts ! Excellent way of tightening security !

As such you don't need them but adding a few makes Firefox far superior than IE6/7 for usability, security and general web browsing ! IE7 is still not good for security, still tons of holes and flaws that can be exploited, but nothing is perfect !

    In Firefox:

    Tools > Add-Ons > Extensions

It does take time to customise, but believe me the amount of sites that have 'extra' JavaScripts running is just stupid ! I'm talking about safe sites too !

IE7 for me as Firefox seems a bit hand knitted in comparison.
    P.S. I don`t give a f*** if anyone else doesn`t agree btw.

I prefer Firefox. I did go back to IE7 for a while but it seems awkward to use after using Firefox.
