Ignition Timing problem

Hi,

My MK2 Golf GTI is currently in the garage having had a new head gasket and valve adjusters but because its an import model the garage are not sure what degrees the timing should be for the ignotion.
My Golf has a EV engine code and was wondering if anyone would be able to help or knows where i could find out so i can finally get my car back.
