or this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-Alarm-Imm...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19c4b23f11 or this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Getronics-Cat...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item483ee79a39
If it's for insurance purposes you might want to check their requirements as often it'll need to be a Thatcham approved one immobiliser and in addition will need to be installed by someone who is also able to sign off the Thatcham installation certificate (can't remember the exact name but they should be registered as an approved installer).
Quote was with Adrian Flux, the guy said it just needs to be any kind of cheap immobiliser and I can fit myself...
This alarm immobiliser has just failed. Over the last few weeks the 'arm/disarm' beep had gone a little quiet but still functioned. Then maybe 2-3 weeks ago the alarm armed and beeped but then when I went to get in, it wouldn't beep to disarm. I went into the car anyway The alarm didn't go off, despite the interior red 'armed' light being still on. The car also started too, so the immobiliser had failed too. So I've been running it like that since. It looks like the alarm is always armed. Just got a knock at the door from a neighbour down the road. The alarm has totally malfunctioned letting off a loud, high pitch constant whine. Had to disconnect the battery. Bo****ks
True. looking into a new one now anyway. In regards to the insurance, the reason for the install was that the insurance company said that they cannot proceed unless I signed a declaration that an immobiliser "of any kind" was fitted. I got them to confirm if it needed to be thatcham approved or professionally installed. They advised as long as an immobiliser is fitted regardless of type, certification of installer they can insure.
seems there's a dab of water on the lower right hand side of the fusebox. So the alarm is probably not at fault after all. eeek.[:^(]
