My Maystar alarm/immobiliser is on it's last legs. It sometimes comes on just because it feels like it, or the weather's cold..... then it flattens my battery.

I can't afford a new one, so was thinking of getting just an immobiliser. My friend had one in her Polo that just had a little thing next to the ignition that a key thing was put in, but I don't know what make.

Any suggestions welcomed for something that's cheap and effective.

    TIA

I had one fitted the other day. I have no idea if it's a decent one or not, but it's an Apollo 2000 and is a Thatcham Approved Cat. II.

I got it from Alarms Direct and they came to work and fitted it for me in about half an hour. It cost me 129 all inclusive.

Thanks, Golfgirl - sounds about what I can afford.:)

Does it have a key thing? I'm fed up of fobs that the batteries get flat, or washing them in my jean's pocket!

I don't what you'd call it really - it's not a key but it's a little plastic thing that you put into the slot on the dash and then it beeps for 30 seconds, during which time you have to start the car.

should be able to get transponder immobiliser fitted for that kind of money. No keys to insert, keep tag on key ring and it disarms automaticly as you switch on ignition.

I put a 'Freedom' alarm on mine about 3 months ago. It's got a starter and ignition coil immobiliser, 2 stage shock sensor and one of those clifford style multitone sirens. Only cost about 75.

I was thinking of getting an immobiliser only too but I came to reason that if someone tried to break in and knick something then they would have no deterrant.

They fit also if you are in the South London area.
