As title really. I have a few images off the net which are say 200 or 300 pixels wide, which is pretty small and I'd like to increase their size. They can't just be scaled up as they'll grain up due to the finite pixelation. So can they be re-photographed/scanned at the existing res? Or are there Photoshop or other programs which can do this? Upscaling, interpolating within pixel fields etc, without losing quality? Or at least not as much as you lose on straight canvas increase.
As far as i know this can't be done to JPG files. JPG is a compressed file format so each time you save the file its a lesser quality so get worse each time you save them.
Indeed I understand the quality lowers, but are there any tricks to bring it back up through interpolation/other means? (thinking aloud here)
We have a programme at work which runs on the old cs version of photoshop which if i remember rightly trys to replicate and match the pixels when enlarging an image, so its doesnt look as cack when blown up. Can give it a go if you want? But depends how big you need to go.
Never tried to up scale before but could give it a try using photoshop if you wanted...? using: worth a try...
I have a couple of tricks Chris. Fire up a few example images and I will have a go, post the methodology (if it works).
I always laugh when csi etc take a low quality video and get a much higher res photofit from it, yeah right lol.
