Hey guys... just want to know will fitting a new alternator mess up with the timing or anything else? is it as simple as pull out the old one and put the new one in? any advice would be awesome. Thanks
Disconnect the earth on the battery first to avoid shorting anything out then yeah, just unbolt the old and bolt in the new
nah doesnt effect the timing make sure the belt is tensioned properly , and disconect the batt neg terminal before working on it
cheers guys... much apreciated... how can i check the belt is tentioned properly... ive been told to twist it and it shouldnt go past 90 degrees as in not past twisting it to horizontal position... is that correct?
twisting the belt is the test done on the canbelt not the alternator belt with the alternaotr belt you just have to give it a push midway between alternator and water pump, it should not move more than a quarter of an inch (1/4") hope that helps you out john
