Greenlight offered the best deal for me and they're traders on here with discounts for members I think. Have a look for them under the Traders section.

    Hi Scorcher,

Providing you're aged over 21 with a Full licence for at least 2 years we'd be able to help.

We've several types of products available depending upon your circumstances and can cater for most eventualities, including everyday use vehicles, extensively modified vehicles, classic (unmodified), classic (modified), low mileage use, track use vehicles and can mirror your no claims bonus from other vehicle's you've earned NCB upon.

The MK1 and MK2 models are regarded as classic cars, which providing your Golf is a 2nd (non-everyday/leisure use) with a low annual mileage requirement you would be looking at low cost cover, with relevant features (inc. agreed value option).

We're entirely independent and deal with a range of Insurers, with access to their specialist (in addition to Greenlight exclusive) products. Most of our staff own (or have owned) the types of vehicles we arrange Insurance cover for, which also helps.

DubBeGoodToMe mentioned Highway Insurance, a firm that we have been working with for 18 years now. I can confirm we've consistently been one of Highway/LV's top 40 brokers for more than a decade now and have access to their specialist products, along with additional products for the exclusive use of Greenlight.

I know you're new here, but you'll find you're in the perfect place to support you in owning your Golf. There's plenty of people here who have been where you are and you'll find useful content (from sympathy and empathy, to technical advice) and help with mechanical upkeep/parts both online and at club events.

As an Insurance firm, we like covering vehicles that people are endeared to and recognise the cherished (band of brothers) enthusiast communities. You'll find we provide discounts for club members too, so if you do apply to us online or via the telephone remember to list your Club GTi forum membership.

The best ways to apply would be:

    1) By calling our technical telephone team on 01277 650866
    2) online at www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk
    3) PM me your contact details and we'll call to run through this with you

    Kind regards

    Tony

P.S. Thanks to Catnipboy and Richard MK2 for the recommendation, your kind comments are gratefully appreciated [l][l]

Thanks to everyone who responded to my insurance question (and thanks for moving it to the right section for me). It has low annual mileage (well under 3,000) but is our only car (we don't have much use for one and don't drive far in it). It is for leisure use only. Does the fact it is not a second car mean classic car insurance is out for me? Thank you, Tony@Greenlight - I will contact your office next week to talk further.

    Hi Scorcher,

Just a follow up post to see how you got on.

For the benefit of your own circumstances (as well as to clarify this for you fellow members). We can cover (and reward) limited mileage/leisure use vehicles with lower road exposure, but if it's your main car you'll need to have at least 1 year's NCB available.

    Kind regards

    Tony
