how do i choose the correct intercooler pipework size to buy?

please include any websites to look at for the pipework and silicone pipework.

    application
    16v Turbo,
    9A engine
    T28 (AR.49)
    20vt inlet

i have read Tshirt thread and he mentions using "All pipe is 2.25" or 57mm"

do i just buy this size or is there a method to calculate the pipe size?

i have not yet bought the intercooler and will probably buy a universal one once i have measured and figured out fitment with small bumpers.

    thanks

    Rick

(will add pics soon of progress)

Depends on your target output. 2" can support around 255hp 2.25"- roughly 345hp. Started a thread previously.

i see, so its flow capacity, i thought it was down to the turbo and inlet diameter. 2.25 it is then! Thanks again. That is the next buy then! Had a look but missed your thread. Ta

did you buy individual pipe then? Where from? I will really need to buy and locate intercooler first. What is your intercooler size? H/W/D and flange diameter. (if you have the info to hand!) thanks

My ducting was bought from the exhaust shop "Top Gear". I had them custom bend the pipes to suit the pre-planned pipe run. Silicone tubes/bends from Think Automotive completes the rest.

Water and oil feeds + lines where purchased from Think Auto as well. The turbo was taken down there and they advised on what was required.

Yes. The oil supply for the turbo can be taken from a "tee" in the oil filter housing shared with one of the pressure switches or from the original oil temp tapping on the side of the head. Your choice. However the decision to use either will determine the end fittings and the length of pressure hose.
