thought I'd spend a bit of time on the car/engine type jigsaw puzzle in the garage. In moving the (mostly stripped) block I knocked the intermediate shaft, which kinda popped out a bit, and wouldn't go back in. On carefully withdrawing it I noted the outer white-metal bearing has pretty much broken up. Kinda hoping it wouldn't get to this, but now it looks like I'm going to have to find a machine shop to replace the bearings, as a minimum. Anyone got any recommendations for somewhere bristol-way? Was going to ring TSR as a start, and there's a place in avonmouth that does light commercials, but if anyone knows a decent engine-builder that knows vw, some pointers would be good.
