Last sunday i was driving along and changing gear suddenly became very difficult, wouldn't let me engage gear unless i really pushed the shift rod hard. [mk2 8v golf gti] Since then it has been alternating between super smooth easy to change gear [2/3rds of the time] and almost imposible to get into gear unless the car is rolling forwards slowly while i try and push it into gear. The oil level was a bit low so i topped it up and it hasn't really made a difference. I also have a short shift kit fitted with 60% reduction. I can also hear a slight whining noise just after I take the car out of gear. any one got any ideas?
