This is my MKII 1300C that I kinda accidentally drove under the back of a trailer being pulled by a tractor!

As it happens I did that little modification on Friday 13th July (2001).

All I had was a cut on my right knee from the keys hanging from the ignition. Nothing else, not even whiplash. Dunno how I managed it!

    I wouldn't know about that.

I can't remember the actual impact, just sliding towards this trailer thinking 'oh bugger' and then next thing I know i'm sitting still, and my forward view isn't exactly as volkswagen intended it to be. [:D]

The screen broke, and the roof was pushed about half an inch up from the doors at the top of the A pillars. Plus the dash came back a good six inches. thank god it was just me in the car!

Surely there is a better way to put a diesel engine in a Mk2.
Seriously though that could have been a lot worse.

 I got another Golf 1300 to replace that one, and the new one was four speed. I had a 5 speed box in the wreck. Didn't half make the job of removing it easy, having neatly destroyed everything above it. [:D]

Crikey mate! What did the tractor driver say?

I nearly did the same not long ago, I was 'making progress' and
noticed that there was a tractor on the inside lane of the dual
caridgeway (sp?). Next time I looked I had gained half a mile in the
blink of a tired eye and nearly finalised my self. one swerve
and 'brown adrenaline' rush later I'd survived

I did mine on a dual carriage way too. I was undertaking an Audi in the outside lane and hoping to make it back out before I got as far as the tractor - trouble was the little 1300 wasn't quick enough and I got on the brakes a bit late.

The tractor driver said something along the lines of 'Bad luck about your car mate, by the way my trailer hasn't got a single scratch on it, I'll be on my way now!'

    Bad luck there [:^(]

You don't mess with tractors  :lol:They drive them over walls and into trees so a little bit of metal ain't going to do much harm.

Plus the farmers usually try and claim for the paint scratches too (well the scratches in the rust!!!).

On country lanes its the farmers domain , i know they are a pain but they are doing their work, and they can pop out of gates and from behind walls and buildings, so lets all be a bit more careful this summer there seems to be too many bent motors so far this month!!!!
