did vw ever fit the vr6 into a rwd car if so what was it.
i am asking this because i am building an outlaw stock car and would love to use a vr6 for all the low down grunt and they are way lighter than a v8 or f**d v6.
any thoughts on the suitability of the vr6 to be used this way are apreciated. such as can i buy any vr6 and bolt it to a vw rwd gearbox?
    cheers

Dubsport did a mid engine VR6 mk1 and a twin VR6 Rallye and also BIGDUB the twin turbo twin VR6 mk3 but i dont think VW did one from the factory

unfortunatly vr6's don't have muh low down grunt, they have to be kept above 4000rpm. this can be cured with the adition of a schrik vgi inlet manifold though.

i dont think it was ever put by vw in a rwd car as they whole point of the engine was to make it compact so it could be mounted sideways.

    there is a 'normal' v6 in audi's i think.

nice 30v v6 in audis, i imagine a VR is lighter than a essex or cologne v6 as they run iron heads, but what about a jag s-type, they run 3.0l 24v v6s in rwd IIRC

I would have thought that a Rover V8 would be lighter than a VR6
