Make sure it has FSH. It's the next best thing.

its only done 26k but history looks good.

it does have a slight wobble when driving but salesman says it's the wheel balance, could it be more serious?

get them to balance the wheels up before you got for another drive, if they wont walk away as it maybe hiding something, there is always more cars to choose from.

get him to sort the wobble or walk

could be a bent alloy or any number of expensive parts

    Why.

So what if the limiters been hit. Means nothing.

These engines are run on the limiter for days in testing.

I'd be disappointed if I bought a gti that had only been poodled in.

Check the seatbelts. If they don't snap back quickly after extension then it's poss that the engine has done more miles than what's showing. General common sense really, if the engine looks like it's been steam cleaned might have been to remove oil marks... I'd be more worried about the wobbling I think!

cheers guys! as you can tell i aint clued up on motors

the front two tyres were real low... he said he'll put 4 new ones on..

i will def tell him to do the wheel balance before i test it again.

it is a VW garage. Can they withhold info, like it having been hit? APPROVED....?hmmm

to be honest I couldn't really tell that it had a wobble the sales man said to me he thought it did whilst driving along... I just thought it was a bit bumpy because the suspension is quite stiff.

take a look at the inside edge of the front tyres . if a mk5 gti has be driven hard thats where it will show .

also take a peek at the mfa . select the 2nd (overall ) thing and see what the mpg is . if its low 20's then it's been driven hard .

stone chips would mean he was the sort of tool that drove 1ft from the bumper of the car in front or drove everywhere really fast or its been clocked loads

Does sound a bit suspect about the stonechips. Saying that though I went out on a evening where they must've had gritters out as driving behind some at around 80-ish peppered the front of my bonnet and the wings with chips. I wasn't right up his bum either

yeah I know what you guys are saying it does seem a bit strange..

but if it's done 26k on the motor way could this not be possible?

would vw not know if it's had a hair cut and blow dry! or could they just be gangsters!
