it's just about time for me to look for new tyres for the 4motion or leon fr
when i remove the winter tyres off the Leon
now i do have the Bridgestone Potenza S001 off the Leon with 5 to 7mm tread left that will do for one of them
and some Falken fk 453 that are just above the the limit about 3mm

i like both the above tyres both are quite soft with good grip
been looking at rainsport 3's seem quite good for the money would be good all year round but maybe not as good in the hot weather

just wonder what other people are using or like
maybe start a pole and make a top 10 list of tyres we rate

    list added

    1. Uniroyal Rainsport rainsport 2 or 3

    2. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3

    3. Michelin Pilot Sport 4

    4.

If they made them Mk2 sized I'd be straight on with Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3.

    1.

    Bridgestone`s back on the Leon.

Ditch the Falken`s ... sell on Gumtree

What mileage on the 4Motion and ... used in Winter ?

We have used Vredestein All Season tyres (Quatrac) on rear wheel drive and found them

    2.

Bridgestone`s on the 4Motion in Summer - Leon`s Winter`s on it come November

All Season tyres on the Leon for all year.

    ...

We have used Winters in the Summer (Vredestein - Bridgestone - Nokian) and found them OK ... as long as you don`t lean on them too much. Braking is also not so good.

I have come to favour Michelin`s and have PS4`s ready for the S4 Avant`s Summer duty [:D]

Dunlop Maxx RT AO = GRIP + GRIP + GRIP

Elaine's pulling so much 'G' now that the oil pressure warning light will soon need a new bulb.

Aye i was thinking along the lines of what you said all seasons for the Leon and fitting the Bridgestone to the 4motion
milage is quite low on the 4motion and i only do 5 to 10k a year 14 miles a day suspension is getting a refresh this year new r32 rack and some poly bushes
it is running mostly r32 kit
it is used all year round

Falken keep two or gumtree the other two are for the bin or give to someone for drifting

so it's just down too what tyres i get

Aye keep hearing good things about them

cool used to use Dunlop's on the mk2 always found them quite good in the wet

Uniroyal Rainsport 3 on the mk4 and there epic with all this standing water / flash flooding, just cut through with little or no squirm.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 on my 8l S3 - about 4mm left and still an excellent tyre

I drive the near 1500 kg S3 a bit differently to the 1075 kg MK2 Golf.

So a bit difficult to say.

Like K7aus, the family also owns a MK4, but with a boot. So Uniroyal RS3 are fitted to our Bora V5 (170ps).
The Bora does rarely gets driven enthusiastically, however for me the tyres are pretty much fit and forget.

Mine are the standard Bridgestone sports on my little polo but I find they struggle in the wet to keep traction..........or is it me being too heavy on the throttle?

if you're looking for new tires, you might want to check Continentals Extreme Contact DW. i'd prefer this one compared to AS Pirelli because its quieter and has more grip.

We run Nokian Weatherproof all-season on my Daughters Mini. Absolutely fine for general driving around in the summer and great in the rain / snow. Absolutely NOT a performance summer tyre, but as she only had one set of wheels it made sense and certainly not a decision we regret.

Obviously depends on your driving style and use though ;)

I've got Yokohama S Drive on my MK2 at the moment and really rate them, as above tho, Uniroyal Rainsports are great too.

I had those on my MK5 and they were ace.

    Alex. :)
