Yeah, it's probably tornado red but gone pink so i'll use that as an excuse to knock him down to 350, should be quite decent engine wise on 57k though , what say you?

I've rang him, seems a sound bloke as well.

Iv'e gotta see it, that way i'll know if i can make it look anything without spending loads on it, if i can then i may as well buy it to sell on, don't know what they are like inside?

well they dont have gti intirior at least the early ones didnt, most of them had slightly more bucked seats than the golf drivers, but not as buckety as the gti hence why i swaped mine for gti seats.

other than that they are very similar to a golf

sunroof same clocks and mfa black head lining same engine and doors etc the only thing different to the golf apart from the intiror is the boot as far as i know

edit oh and of course the front lights

Do it! What age is it? Dont get it with a view to doing up and selling on, Jettas are not that easy to sell, unless they are cheap. I would recommend one. I also prefer the interior in my Jetta to the one in my Golf.

Sorry guys, i bottled it, it's gonna be a golf but i must admit i do like jetta's, i'm probably gonna regret my decision when i go to a show somewhere and there's about 50 golfs all the same as mine......

Should of bought it anyway for that money though........!

FSH? Can he back up the 57k miles? Seems dubious.

I would have been. Golf all the way :)

To be fair, he had every MOT and nearly FSH! it would make someone an ace runabout or perfect project for a jetta fan but...... i need a golf.....[IMG]

Could be a missed opportunity. Surely it would have been a good buy for the 350/400 mark.

Are Jettas not meant to have better handling than Golfs?

mate i just bought a jetta for 170 on new years eve.

I didnt really want it to start with, just thought id go and check it out.
ended up driving it home, 1.3 4speed - kept trying to find 5th on the m25!!!

unfortunatly as a poor 21yr old student i cant afford anything more on insurance but hoping to stick a 1.8carbed engine in when it gets a bit warmer as my insurance is for renewal in may...

I must say though, for me, having the boot has been most usefull and im glad i bought a bigger car!

Should have got it, its good to be different sometimes.

I just got a Mk1 Jetta GLs (1.5 carb) for 100, mint condition, been garaged for 7 years, new shocks/spring, fuel/brake lines, goodridge flexi's, re-sprayed in a metalic blue, interior in unmarked. All i needed was a water pump and a service and hopefully it will be up and running fine, going to replace the front discs and pads plus the rear shoes and drums, all the belts and the spark plugs just to be on the safe side, so a car up and running for 200 ish

I'm sure Jetta's/Vento's have better aero dynamics than the golf, also my Vento came with alot of the Highline fixtures and fittings as standard

where abouts is it located? sounds a good buy for 400 if the mileage is genuine.

I think the back end is more solid which is why the handling is a bit better. You can achieve the same in a Golf by putting in a rear strut brace I believe. The rear springs might also be stiffer due to the increased weight in the back, might be wrong on that one though.
