    I think its a ringer, front end of a mk2, rear of a mk4 and they only built 300 of them in their dodgy lock up before their operation got busted

    The s reg is proably a E reg mk2 campaign model, came in oak green,black and helios blue, I think.

    If its cheap with tax and test, no rust etc snap it up

    Unlikely an S plate, think there have been a few threads on here about who has the last registered mk2, The latest one was a n plate that was a dvla cock up when the car was imported into the uk. The car was a 91/92 runout model with a n plate

    It`s probably an F reg and the person on the phone at the paper taking the details misheard. Go and see it and put us out of our misery!:lol:

    no, it's not a mistake, it wouldn't make sense, heres the whole ad, it reads;
    VW GOLF GTI 1989 S mk2, rare 1 of 300, 46000 miles mot and tax may '08 15'' TSW alloys, dropped 80mm, full tint, k and n induction kit, 1000k soundsystem, excellent condition, 2000 ono

    imo it sounds either chavified or nicely done.

    If thats the add... re read it, The S more than likely stands for something else, seeing it tells you the age just before.

    Was it an advert in the paper or something similar? It's just that it sounds like the person taking the call has misheard the 'F' of an '89 car as 'S'...

    EDIT: Beaten to it! Must read post before replying! [:D]

    Makes perfect sense! [:s]

    1989=F reg. Quite obviously misheard as `S`.
