Hi, just a simple question here. Recently I undid the banjo bolt connecting to the fuel filter next to the battery to see what the state of the filter was, put the banjo bolt back with washers and tightened up. Started car and noticed fuel dripping from the banjo bolt nearest the battery. Er.... whoops. Stopped car again in a hurry.

I'm gathering these washers are aluminium not copper right? Are they "Crush washers"? Do you need to replace these washers every time you undo a connection? I'm guessing it's because the washers weren't sealing properly, yes?

If so, where do I get them? Is the Dealer the only source?

    Thanks.

Can be Copper or Aluminium ... have you a local Bosch Centre / Injection Specialist / VW Dealer ?

    Either...

Go down a fastener supplier and buy some copper washers the same size (or even try Halfords, GSF and other motor factors)
    or
put a sheet of fine emery paper down on a flat surface and rub the washers over them to make sure they're flat, then try again.
    or
Try a Bosch dealer as above
    or
Pay far too much at VW

You can re-anneal copper washers by heating them dull red in a blowtorch. Shouldn't need it for these though.

Ok nipped it up extra tight and seems to have solved the leak for now. Thanks for the input, guys.

I wouldn't mind grabbing some of these washers though, would be nice to have some handy. I'm going to investigate Bosch Dealers as mentioned above.

Thanks for the emery tip, Mike H - that sounds handy.

Ah cool, thought they might be a rip off. Thanks for that, I'll simply incorporate them into my next order. Thanks for the part nos as well, that's much appreciated.
