When I do a job, I really try to do it well... Including bending rods, it seems! Bent in 2 planes, AND twisted!
It's a 1.8t, for those not on the know... 2 bent rods, 2 broken ones, various holes in the block and one in the sump. Literally no warning.. Driving, came on boost and BANG!! clatterclatterclatterclatter.
Most people seem to be of the opinion that 300lb/ft is about the limit which that spec engine could definitely have had. Or a poor map with power spikes, too much boost etc
I think it ended up on the road to be honest, was data loggin at the time and no Knock before the event so it was just catastrophic engine failure!. A rod took the crankcase and cast iron girdle out. All my own fault tbf, live and learn!.
