Hi All. Getting these fitted shortly (with powerflex rear wishbone bushes) to compliment the Eibach ARB's and springs and I was wondering........... I expect the garage will set them at the least firm setting but does anyone have any preference as to setting the front vs the rear for handling bias on the road. I know you will just tell me to go and mess about with them but I am just interested! Mk 3 by the way
I would be interested in this also, i have the t/a konis with eibach springs. I have just left the fronts on soft and the rears a little bit harder. It still handles really well and i get some comfort too!
I have been told by a VW tuner here that thats the best way to set them as well and he said in a year or so to go a little harder on the front and then some more on the rear.
Do your rear koni's have top adjustable units that are the same as the front ones? Haven't fitted them yet. Mine have an allen fitting but I can't see that turning once in situ with spring pressure and nuts holding it in place. The front ones have a inner fitting on the damper piston at the top so the inner bit turns when you put the little white knob on it. Anyone got these fitted already?
Mine are (will be) adjustable with the white knob front and back. Im guessing that for raod use you will not stray far from the low firmness as per Gti69 and increase them for the track? Looking forward to it
I run my mk2 with about a 3rd from softest at the back (I have to remove those fatherless childs to change the setting) and I tweak the fronts depending on mood but mostly run them about a 1/4 turn from softest. (H&R springs and stock arbs BTW)
JC, it sounds like you haven`t got the t/a`s for the back, you have to specify this when you order them as they come off corrado`s. The other rears (for the golf) have to be taken off to adjust the damper setting which is a right t**t!
"My rear ones are adjustable the same way as the front ones, they are a bit fiddley but i can live with that. I think the rear Koni's were for a Corrado but they still fit a golf, i may be wrong though. " I am told by Venom that all rear Koni's for VW's are non t/a. Is this b*****ks? What did you buy, where from and how much? I feel like I have been fecked over here!!
I ordered mine from Vince at Stealth, i thought it was only the fronts that were adjustable so i was very very suprised and pleased when i opened them and the rears were adjustable too. I was very lucky i suppose, i think if i had ordered them from anywhere else i probably wouldn't have got rear adjustables! I can't remember what i paid for them now, but i think it was somewhere around 350.
Been shafted here, about to tear someone a new asshole!!! For those ordering: True top adjustable (on car)Part no. 8041-1108 sport Off car Adjustable Part no. 8040-1043 sport 10 difference in it
Iv'e got This koni kit fitted to mine with eibach ARB and struts all round and both front & back are adjustable, you can even buy height adjustable too (not sure if koni). But while i was doing my stuff with the Golf Mag on monday i had the front & back set to full stiffness & had trouble cornering V fast without loosing the back end so i think i'll try softening them up a little. (i was doing 125 & dropped down to 70 to turn but spun 180', how weird). I heard the best setup is koni dampners & eibach springs?
mine aren'theight adjustable [:^(]but i dont have a problem with the rear, it's the front that seems to be high on the standard kit? when i was putting it together i remember something about some grooves having something to do with height in the instructions?
