Currently re-building the bottom end of my KR due to spinning a big end. To help prevent this happening again I will use ARP rod bolts on the standard rods and pistons to avoid having to remove the block, which is in very good condition.

With the new hardware, will my bottom end be safer to use at higher revs? I believe the only reason it spun the shell was because of occasional high revs being too much for the standard rod bolts.

    Thanks in advance.

Do you run stock pistons? How many rpm's did you get when it happened?

Probably about 7000rpm. Went out for a blast, parked, knocking on the way home.

    Totally standard KR

I don't know too much about kr but 7000 sounds too low for that kind of damage. Any picture?

Same as above, oil feed or oil thats broken down over time and not doing its job. Common on number 3 rod too, although I'veno idea why.

Had an oil change a month or two ago. Two actually. Spun number four. Oil pressure is good both hot and cold.

Its often the oil pickup that sucks air in under cornering, due no bafled sump and /or low oil level.
Mount a bafled sump / windage tray, so oil stay were it should be.
